Frequently Asked Questions

How long do I need to be in therapy?2026-09-16T15:05:30+00:00

As I’m sure you could imagine, there is no one answer for this. Your experience in therapy is unique to you and your time with a therapist can range from a few months to a few years.

That being said, you should start to feel some sort of shift or change after just a few sessions. If this isn’t the case, we can definitely talk about how to make our time more effective for you, or perhaps it’s good to consider working with a different practitioner. I never want you to feel bound or restricted to working with me, and I understand that our compatibility can change. I always welcome feedback about how the sessions are going for you, and if you are getting out of therapy what you want to be.

What is your cancellation or no show policy?2026-09-16T15:05:07+00:00

At least 24 hours’ notice is required for any cancellations or requests to reschedule, otherwise there is a $50 fee.

Do you offer in-person or virtual sessions?2026-09-16T15:04:49+00:00

I offer video sessions only right now. I use a HIPAA-compliant platform called Simple Practice. You will receive a link to our sessions as well as e-mail and text reminders prior to our appointment.

How long are the sessions?2026-09-16T15:04:34+00:00

I allow a full hour for our sessions, but appreciate when we find a good place to conclude our time together within the last 5 minutes or so.

What days/hours do you work?2026-09-16T15:04:14+00:00

Monday through Thursday, with appointments scheduled between the hours of 9am – 5pm. I try to limit the number of clients I see per day to a maximum of 5, which allows me to ensure I have the energy and focused presence for everyone I work with.

How does scheduling work?2026-09-16T15:03:53+00:00

There are two ways to do scheduling. You can either schedule appointments on a regular basis (every 1 week, 2 weeks or 4 weeks) where you will be guaranteed a spot in my calendar; or you are welcome to reach out as needed to arrange your next appointment. With the latter arrangement, I cannot guarantee a spot for you at a specific time, and this tends to work best for those with flexible schedules or who want infrequent appointments.

Can I speak with you before I schedule a first appointment?2026-09-16T15:03:32+00:00

Absolutely; speaking before we decide to work together is preferred. Please reach out to schedule a free 20-minute consultation call where we can go over what you are looking for and how I can help. It’s also a great way for us to get a sense of our connection and if we’d be a good fit.

Working Together

Once we decide on working together, we will schedule our initial session. Time during this first session will mostly be devoted to getting to know you, understanding the problem or problems you are struggling with, what you have done in the past that worked or didn’t work, and what your goals are for healing and change.

Future sessions will always involve checking in with you about what you would like to focus on that day. I do not provide strict, rigid structure to my sessions, but I like to confirm with you that we are working on what is most relevant and most helpful for you at that moment.

I can be an active therapist in the room, meaning I will give feedback, reflect what I am noticing, and challenge your point of view if it seems that you have unconsciously accepted something to be true that might be limiting you in life.

I also fully respect your autonomy and self-determination and will yield to you and your process, giving space for it to unfold. I encourage you to always think about how I can best be supportive to you while we are working together. I believe you will find our work much more satisfying that way.
